The etching process permits the exact reproduction of artwork for interior or exterior applications. Etchings provide a modern look that works in a variety of settings ranging from room identifiers to door panels Etched plaques are available in aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, muntz metal, zinc, and stainless steel. Buccacio Sculpture Services recommends etchings when you want your design to show intricate detail, text, and a contemporary look with exact reproduction of your artwork.
The etching process can also reproduce halftone photographs. Halftone portraits resemble newspaper photographs. These halftone photographic reproductions can be used as stand-alone products or be incorporated with any etched or cast plaque. Extremely detailed, beautiful, and crafted to last, etched plaques are the industry standard for quality, precision, and durability.

GRAPHICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Here are six ways your etched metal signage can appear along with their specifications.
ETCHING DEPTH
Depths may range from .010″ to .020″ depending upon size, detail of artwork and material selected.
HALFTONE
Halftone photographs have a shallow etching depth of .003″ to .007″. The photo must be 300 dpi.
RECESSED GRAPHICS
In-filled with a painted color. Brass alloys may be chemically oxidized to appear darker.
RAISED GRAPHICS
Background painted or chemically oxidized, depending upon the material. Small lettering with fine serifs is not recommended.
STENCIL CUT GRAPHICS
Ideal for signage with dissimilar metals. Requires backlighting or it exposes the installation wall. Also used for the accurate placement of holes and cut-out areas.
Mounting
RECESSED GRAPHICS
In-filled with a painted color. Brass alloys may be chemically oxidized to appear darker.

STUD MOUNT
Recommended for concealed mounting to solid walls. Standard length for threaded studs is 11⁄2”. Custom lengths available. Back of etching is drilled and tapped if plaque is 1⁄4” or thicker. Studs are spot welded on the back if plaque is less than 1⁄4” thick. Studs are not recommended on 1⁄16” thickness or less due to “dimpling.”

Borders and Edges
Classic, contemporary, and Ornamental borders to complement your signage.
CORNERS
90° is standard unless otherwise specified.
The standard radius is 1/2″ unless otherwise specified.
EDGES
90° is standard unless otherwise specified.
The standard bevel is 45° and is applied to one-half the material thickness. Not available on 1/16″ thickness.
